Meet Sociology's Valedictorian for 2024!
Tatum Anderson
Tatum Anderson, a sociology major with minors in global women’s studies and communications, is the daughter of Stephen and Dori Anderson. She hails from North Carolina, where her involvement in local social movements and volunteerism sparked her interest in advocacy. This attention to social issues led to her studies in sociology where she participated in research aimed at improving the experiences of underserved communities including first-generation college students and immigrant adolescents.
During her time at BYU, she interned abroad in Poland and the Czech Republic, which solidified her interest in quantitative research and policy analysis. After graduating, she plans to pursue a Master’s Degree in Public Policy with the hope to address social inequalities through policy research. Beyond academics, Tatum enjoys crocheting, ice skating, and café hopping. She is incredibly grateful for the mentorship of the Sociology faculty and the unwavering support of her friends and family.
